Glow in the Dark Stars

Ki Bum always found Dong Hae’s room disturbing when all the lights were off and he was lying on his back in the other’s bed. The ceiling was covered with all sorts of glow in the dark shapes and he didn’t think there was a part of the ceiling that didn’t glow. All the glow in the dark shapes gave the room a sort of eerie glow and Ki Bum would want to turn on his side but he never could force himself to make Dong Hae forfeit his shoulder as a pillow.

One night when the two of them were laying together, snuggled up and talking quietly, Dong Hae obviously getting drowsier by the second, Ki Bum decided to finally broach the subject of his boyfriend’s disturbing ceiling. “Dong Hae…” he said, knowing that he’d have to word it carefully since his boyfriend could be as sensitive as a two year old girl sometimes.

“Mhm?” Dong Hae answered, yawning and nuzzling his face into the other’s neck slightly, kissing it without really even thinking about the action. He was almost asleep, though he kept blinking himself awake because he knew Ki Bum was likely to ask him something that would require an answer and all.

“Why the hell do you have so many glow in the dark shapes on the ceiling for?” Ki Bum asked the other, nudging him to try and wake him up more though he knew that nothing would stop his lover from going to sleep once he was set on falling asleep, hopefully that time hadn’t come just yet. He licked his lips and looked from Dong Hae’s face where he eyes were closed and his mouth was hanging half open in his drowsy state. Maybe now hadn’t been the best time to ask him.

Dong Hae shifted and stifled a yawn, opening his eyes and glancing up at his ceiling. “I think they’re pretty…and they protect me from aliens,” he explained as if talking to a five-year-old. He nuzzled into Ki Bum more. “Why do you ask?” he mumbled, yawning with a slight squeak and reaching his hand up to play with Ki Bum’s hair some.

Ki Bum nuzzled Dong Hae slightly and sighed a bit, trying to think of a tactful way to word his opinion on the other’s ceiling décor. “I just…find it rather odd at times,” he finally settled on saying, knowing that it didn’t quite convey his opinion but that it was good enough to let Dong Hae know that he was less than satisfied with the décor and yet hopefully not enough to upset him. “I just have a hard time sleeping because of them sometimes.

“Eh? Really? I’m so sorry!” Dong Hae said, sitting up quickly and looking down at Ki Bum now almost fully awake. “I never knew you didn’t like it…” he said, biting his lip and looking up towards the ceiling. “I’ll take it all down right now!” he declared, jumping up and starting to reach down and pull down a half moon.

The younger rolled his eyes and pulled Dong Hae quickly before he had the chance to take anything down and wrapped his arms around the other tightly when he tried to get back up. “I’m not asking you to change it, I just wanted to know why you had them,” he said, smiling at the other and nuzzling him. “If it really bothered me enough that I wanted you to change it I’d have us go to my room now wouldn’t I?” he said, brushing his fingers somewhat soothingly along Dong Hae’s side. “I like your room and you just the way you are…but you’re both a little odd sometimes,” he said, teasing the other with a grin and then kissing his nose.

Ki Bum’s words seemed to placate Dong Hae and within moments he kissed Ki Bum’s chin and yawned as he curled back into the other, reclaiming Ki Bum’s shoulder as his pillow. “Then let’s sleep,” Dong Hae mumbled. “I’m not going to be odd and be the thing keeping you up tonight,” he said, letting his hand reach down to brush over the other’s groin through his pajama pants, snickering a bit at the surprised sound Ki Bum made. “Not tonight,” he mumbled and fell asleep.

Ki Bum groaned softly in frustration. That was so not fair…but that was his Dong Hae.
